First success - maintenance therapy with iontophoresis
Usually, the first success with iontophoresis becomes apparent after about 10 days.
Your initial therapy phase was a success? You're no longer sweating?
Well done! Congratulations on gaining freedom from sweat. Now it's time to start the maintenance therapy.
This is an important step. You will learn more about iontophoresis now than ever before.
It is essential to take breaks. Just as the initial therapy, the maintenance therapy varies from user to user.
Not all tips apply equally to each person.
Nevertheless, certain "rules" should always be followed to keep up your success.
Our motto is: Become sweat-free, then stay sweat-free!
Realizing a personal success through iontophoresis diminishes the mental pressure you're under. This often means a further reduction of sweat.
Nervousness, anxiety, high expectations, and the fear of failing your initial therapy are now typically replaced by a relaxed mood and a new sense of security, because Iontophoresis does not work in 100% for all users, although having a really high success rate.
Keep in mind the principles of iontophoresis maintenance therapy
REMEMBER:
If the intervals between each maintenance therapy session (the pauses between each treatment) are too short, this will lead to overtherapy. The upper layer of the skin becomes very dry and brittle. This is counterproductive. This is why you should switch to longer breaks if you notice any of these symptoms.
It is very easy to care for your skin. Care products with high proportions of urea and zinc have proved to be highly effective.
If the maintenance therapy intervals (pause-treatment-intervals) are too long, this will lead to under-therapy. The affected body parts will start to sweat again.
Obviously, this is not desirable. In these cases, it is important to take shorter breaks.
TIP: In order to become dry again after a failed maintenance therapy, many users simply conduct another daily initial therapy until the desired effect sets in again.
Treatment breaks - find out your magic number - an approximation
When we talk about the "magic number", we refer to the time during which you uphold a regular treatment frequency to maintain your success
The "magic number" procedure:
- does not run the risk of losing the effect of iontophoresis
- holds no risk of dry skin
We simply divide the time of the initial therapy by 1.5.
Using the example of an initial therapy that lasted 9 days, the "Magic Number" would be 6 days.
The experience of most users has shown that pauses of one day at the beginning of the maintenance therapy are most efficient.
This rhythm - one treatment day, one day off - is kept up for the duration of the user's Magic Number.
For our example above, the user would uphold the rhythm of one treatment day followed by one day off for a period of 6 days.
However, should the skin become too dry or too wet during this time, the breaks should be readjusted (see: overtherapy or under-therapy).
The Magic Number/breaks should always be adjusted to your individual needs as soon as you become dissatisfied with the result.
The Magic Number is a helpful approximation many users stick with. However, it must still be adjusted individually.
The individual Magic Number varies depending on the length of the initial therapy
For example, for a user who performed an initial therapy of 12 days, the Magic Number would be 8. Uneven numbers can be rounded down. This user would therefore be able to perform the maintenance therapy of one treatment day and one day off for a total of 8 days.
If you do not notice any negative change in dryness after this first maintenance period, you can extend the breaks.
For this purpose, you should extend the breaks between the treatment sessions by one day at a time. This means that for the duration of your Magic Number, you would follow the pattern of one day of treatment, two days of break. Later on, again for the duration of your Magic Number, you would be able to extend the breaks to three days, and so on.
Based on this scheme, you will find out the best rhythm for yourself, i.e. how long and how frequently you should perform your treatments in order to maintain the effects of iontophoresis.
The following table demonstrates the use of the Magic Number.

Initial therapy: 15 days
Magic Number Factor: divide by 1.5

Each phase therefore lasts ~ 10 days.

If the dryness subsides, this is a sign that the breaks are too long. In this case, it is better to perform another daily treatment until you have reached dryness again. Then, start over with the maintenance therapy.
Using our example: should the dryness fade during phase 4, cancel phase 4 and resume a daily initial treatment until the dryness returns.
Then, go back to the previous phase (in this case, phase 3) and continue with this cycle until you are dry enough to require a new extension of the breaks.
It is important not to return straight to phase 4, since it would most likely mean another loss of success.
In our example, phase 3 (one treatment session every 4 days) would be the perfect interval between therapy and break to make sure the sweat is kept at bay and the skin is in perfect condition.
Background Magic Number Factor: The first few days - when you can only handle small currents, were not calculated for the Magic-Number. This is the reason why we take away 1/3 of the whole initial phase.
TIP: It is a good idea to write down all issues of this first phase , after a longer time you can always take a look. It is a good idea to report all treatment days, the therapy length and the current driven.
Iontophoresis resistance
Should you lose the effect, an initial therapy is usually necessary!
Some users who have lost the effect too often observe a "resistance" to iontophoresis. In these cases, the iontophoresis refuses to take effect again, no matter the length, frequency and strength of the treatment.
Of course, this effect is not wanted at all!
The Magic Number is supposed to prevent such a development.
If this has happened to you: don't panic! Usually, you can simply restart your therapy successfully by taking a longer treatment break of 3 times the magic number, followed by a new initial therapy.
If this solution did not work for you, other impacts may be at work.
There can be many negative parameters, such as dietary supplements, dietary habits, or moving houses and changing the tap water quality.
