Iontophoresis
Optimizing the treatment
A perfectly adjusted therapy promises optimized, shorter treatment times
You have achieved success with iontophoresis? Brilliant, congratulations!
However, it pays off to take a closer look at the perfect setting and your individual approach to the treatment. In this way, you can be sure that the iontophoresis effect is maintained long-term, requiring as little time as possible.
A good value might be one or two treatment sessions of 15 minutes a week.
From our experience, this is exactly the rhythm most of our customers apply to their treatment. We refer to our own statistics as our source. Bindner Medical has been conducting these surveys since 2000.
If your treatment requires more time, you can examine your treatment routine for possible "errors". We keep finding that even small details can have a huge effect on the treatment time and the user's satisfaction with the therapy.
These details include your iontophoresis device, water type, nutritional supplements, current level, treatment length, pulse setting, and water level.
A good device is the best basis. Check our device selection and our iontophoresis device compass.
With a good, well-engineered machine, the treatment will be easier, faster, and far more convenient.
Setting the water level correctly is extremely important and can often achieve wonders.
In short: the current has to flow exactly into the region you want to be affected by the iontophoresis treatment.
Not all types of water work exactly the same. In our experience, a water type that is very suitable for iontophoresis is Volvic water. Should you lose your success with iontophoresis while travelling or after moving houses, or should you not have any success at all, the right water is a deciding factor.
We encourage you to try different water types. You will soon find out which type of water you are most successful with.
Excessively high currents lead to an irritation of the skin and an uncomfortable treatment. If your current is set too low, you will achieve subpar effects even when conducting long treatments.
Your device is able to switch from direct current to a pulsed current? This can be extremely beneficial.
Since every user has a different skin condition, iontophoresis reacts very individually to specific pulse widths. For many iontophoresis devices this is fixed, for others you can change it.
The goal is to minimize your treatment time. If your iontophoresis treatments exceed a duration of 30 minutes per week to take effect, this can be an indication that the current level is too low.
If your pauses are too long, the sweating will start again - If they are too short, your skin will become too dry.
Not always the best option - find your own approach!
Save time by treating hands and feet simultaneously
A possibility with high-performance devices, a real time-saver for experienced users.
The iontophoresis therapy is negatively affected by a high body resistance.
Note on nutrition
From our experience, we can say that high-dosage vitamin B complexes often prevent iontophoresis from being successful. This applies not only to vitamins, but also to so-called "fillers" in dietary supplements.
Therefore: unless your vitamins have been prescribed by a doctor, you can safely leave them away for a while (3 weeks) as long as you follow a healthy diet, so that you can observe a possible change in your success rate.
Are you hydrated? Since iontophoresis needs water to conduct the electricity, it is advantageous to drink a lot of water. If you are not hydrated, your skin will create an unnecessarily high body resistance.
Citrus fruit increases the resistance of the skin to electricity. Eating too many citrus fruits can create problems. A balanced diet is helpful and beneficial.
