Selecting a current
Current selection: direct current - pulsed current - switch between direct current and automatic pulsed current - variable pulsed current
Our current selection guide will assist you with the difficulties of choosing the right electric current
You have many other options to improve your iontophoresis experience: all guides at a glance. The choice of the perfect current is closely linked with the choice of the perfect device. We offer a wide selection of current types and different options. In our shop, you can choose between the following current types:
- Direct current
- Pulsed current
- Variable pulsed current
- Automatic pulsed current
- Automatic direct current
- Switch between direct and pulsed current
- Switch between variable pulsed current and direct current
As you can see, it is not necessarily easy to choose the current that fits you best.
Not every iontophoresis device can offer your desired or preferred type of current.
Firstly, keep in mind that we generally recommend pulsed currents.
Find out the reason here: Why we always recommend pulsed current
Therefore, we advise you to choose a pulsed current, or to top it off, a variable pulsed current. However, there are certain cases in which you could be better off choosing a simple device that offers a switch between a direct current and a fixed pulsed current.
One easy reason: this is the cheapest option from our supply.

How our selection guide works
By answering a few simple questions, you can find out which type of current is best for you, depending on the body parts you would like to treat.
The selection guide always selects our most affordable devices for you. We follow the motto: never pay for options you don't need.
If you only want to treat sensitive body parts, the so-called "special areas" i.e. face, armpits, back, forehead etc., and do not need the device for your hands or feet, we will automatically suggest the cheapest option.
In this case, the low price is a bigger priority than other traits like
- a simple operation
- a variable pulsed current feature, since higher pulse widths often make little sense when treating sensitive areas
However, if your priority is the simplest possible usability, you should consider choosing the Idromed 5PS.
If you are enthusiastic about technology, you are welcome to try the Hidrex connectION. Should it turn out that you don't have need for the variable pulsed current settings, you can switch the Hidrex connectION for the "simpler" Hidrex classicION.
If you wish to treat hands and feet with a pulsed current device, the selection will be between our two top devices.
A rule of thumb / Iontophoresis type of current conclusionÂ
The Idromed 5PS is a device that is easy to use and offers no possibility for faulty settings or a direct current.
The Hidrex ConnectION offers extensive adjustments.
Both devices are suitable for the treatment of sensitive body parts. If you wish to treat "special areas" in addition to hands and feet, you will need the respective iontophoresis accessories.
Our direct current devices are not automatically suggested, unless you explicitly select the direct current mode. This goes against our recommendations.
However, direct current devices are also available:
You have the choice between an easily usable direct current device, or a low-price iontophoresis device that offers a switch between 50% pulsed current and 100% direct current.
